Hee Haw Themed Bingo Event to Raise Money for Charity

February 21st, 2010 Posted in News

In the town of Hickory, North Carolina in the United States, an event is set to be held that will be a fundraiser for the group’s local ALFA charity organization. This year the event will have the theme of Hee Haw, a country music TV show that was popular on American TV. The group, called Not Your Mama’s Bingo, planned this second event after their first event, Chapel of Love Bingo, sold out and raised $5,000 to benefit the ALFA charity. Along with the obvious bingo games, there will be costumes, dances, songs and a variety of prizes along with hosting by Queenie, a local performer. Along with Queenie will be several BVD’s, the term used for Bingo Verifying Divas, the crew that helps the games run smoothly and a part of the over all fun that the event offers.

In addition to providing a fun filled event for the locals of Hickory, Not Your Mama’s Bingo is intended to raise awareness for HIV issues, share preventative information and do what they can to make life better for local residents. Those who are planning to attend the event are asked to dress in a similar manner to the old TV show which had a rural theme emphasizing a hillbilly aesthetic. A variety of wacky rules are part of the event and players will be asked to abide by the rules or risk being taken on stage to participate in the over all laugh fest that the event is intended to represent. Both cash and prizes are part of the gaming experience for the Hee Haw Bingo night and anyone who plays is eligible to win.
